Day two – ATSG; the best place to be for Fashion Sourcing

Thanks to the attendees and partners that came out to support leading exhibitors from around the world at the ATSG (Apparel Textile Sourcing Germany) trade show.

I was impressed by the organizers, the quality of exhibitors, the presentations, matchmaking, and the stylish attendees.

Great to see the interaction with buyers and manufacturers throughout the day, reviewing existing orders with established partners and qualifying new vendors for future transactions.

Exploring the possibilities with this manufacturer of young contemporary fashions.

Well, other buyers were intently involved, looking at the newest styles, processes, techniques, and on-going supplier developments in the growing active, athletic, and athleisure category.

The latest in active, athletic, and athleisure styles:

Over on the main stage throughout the day there were back to back presentations providing insights and intelligence about the fast-evolving industry.

Jeff Streader and Dr. Martin Anduschus

Discussed in the detail the “Strategies for powering your business with Technology”.

From marketing to retail to supply chain management, technology is changing the way we do business. The companies who adopt innovative ways to streamline their operations, cut costs and reduce lead times will experience a competitive edge over those who don’t.

Join Jeff Streader, Managing Director of Go Global Brand Investment Platform and Martin Anduschus, Vice President at Arvato Systems GmbH, for an overview of the technologies apparel brands are utilizing to stay ahead of the competition.

Jeff highlighted “The unicorns of today are often digitally orientated, their connection to the customer through their web store, they are listening through their touchpoints (page views, time on page, and conversions).  This intimacy allowing digitally orientated brands to enable and elevate their business”

Jeff goes on to mention that personalization and curation are key for business today.  Dr. Anduschus talks about a successful business in Germany called About You, which has revenue of around $560M/Annually. About You’s business model is curated shopping where someone (A.I. and actual people) makes recommendations to buyers”.

Matthijs Crietee and Taco Ubbink

Explored “Ultimate logistics and distribution strategies in Europe”

Diverging consumer tastes and technology are opening new possibilities for brands and labels of all size to export their collections all over the world.

Online sales reduce the reliance on expensive physical stores to be set up overseas when exporting and as a result consumers from all over the world can buy clothing by brands and designers from all over the world online.

However, to succeed, brands and labels must deal with some of the same, timeless basics. They need to get their marketing and logistics right.

Consumers must be able to find one’s brand online and once found and ordered, the goods must be delivered.
