David Landsberg is president and CEO of Goodwill Industries of South Florida (GISF), a Social Enterprise dedicated to helping people with disabilities and other barriers to work gain greater independence through employment. Landsberg oversees general business operations of the nonprofit’s four entrepreneurial divisions — Donated Goods/Stores, Apparel Manufacturing, Custodial Services, Laundry Services, and all other areas of Human Services. Having served on GISF’s Board of Directors for 18 years prior to being named CEO in March 2014, he is committed to growing Goodwill’s capacity to provide rehabilitation, on-the-job training, work experience, and placement services.
Mr. Landsberg a proven business leader, and a 30-year veteran of the newspaper industry, was most recently president and publisher of the Miami Herald Media Company (MHMC), a position he held for eight years. He started his career with MHMC as a staff accountant and spent 10 years in a variety of financial management positions. He became chief financial officer in 1996, and also founded and ran the company’s internet operations. He served as vice president of advertising for six years and was later promoted to general manager of MHMC prior to assuming the role of Publisher in October 2006.
A Miami native, Landsberg was raised in Coral Gables and attended Coral Gables High School. He graduated from the University of Florida with a finance degree, earned an MBA from the University of Miami, and completed the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School. Landsberg is a member of the Community Advisory Board for the University of Miami Clinical and Translational Science Institute and a member of The Republic of Haiti Presidential Advisory Council (PACEGI).
